[SOLVED] Two Buttons NOT Working

Post by pinhead77 » Mon Jul 16, 2018 11:36 pm

Hello, i just installed 3.82 image and i'm having a strange issue: buttons 1 and 3 of Player 2 are not working (playing Street Fighter 2 Champions Edition with Mame078).

Connections are good, i tested the buttons ingame using another jamma PCB (different brand, same raspberry, same SD card, same game, same jamma cable, RetroPie 4.4 based) and buttons work.

Is it a known problem? Could be a damaged RaspberryJamma? (i received it in December 2017, mounted it for the first time in March 2018 and played not a lot since therefore)

At the beginning, with 3.811 image, buttons were working, but now, even if i try to reinstall 3.811 image instead of 3.82, they don't.

Is there a way to remap buttons?

I tried different Jamma boards and i love Raspberry Jamma, don't want to play with others PCBs!

Thank you in advance

EDIT:
I was playing Champions Edition (edited above too)

I'd try testing the buttons in a different emulator, just in case it's a setup issue with 078 or Retroarch. There's no P2 button related bugs. I'd recommend MAME 172 for CPS and CPS2 games, can you try your buttons in SF2 in MAME172 and report back?

Other than a setup bug or physical damage to the PCB I'm not sure what could cause this offhand. I have most (if not all) 6 button games in newer versions of MAME than 078 so it may just be I've missed some of the P2 setup on that emulator and never noticed (although it being buttons 1 and 3 you're having the issue with that doesn't make sense entirely either).

Ok, i'm building a 172 romset and then i will post my feedback.

EDIT:
Ok, with MAME 172 buttons work. With MAME 078, they don't.

Thank you very much, problem solved.

Even if on MAME172 buttons are working fine, is there a way to remap default controls by myself on MAME078?

(once for all, not for each game one by one)

you should be able to change them in the built in MAME menus (start + joy right during a game running in the version of MAME you want to adjust)

I think the ellipses mean there's quite a lot assigned to the button and it's too much to show, maybe I'm wrong though that could be something else. Either way it doesn't matter if you have got it working now. Must remember to have a look at it myself before the next release.
