RPi Firmware update for Pi's mid 2023 and newer

Recently bought a new Raspberry Pi 3B+ to do a new Arpicade install. Cloned my working micro SD card. The card would not boot in the new RPi3B+ (green led on Pi gave an error code of 4 long flashes and 7 short flashes). After many hours of troubleshooting and reordering 3 (yes 3) RPi3B+ boards (to r...

@triggerhappy

Thank you for sharing this. Worked perfectly for me for my Tron/Discs of Tron with joystick and spinner controls. I really appreciate this community and people sharing solutions and troubleshooting results. Thanks!

Re: Switch back to MAME2003 and how to force refresh to 60

Tried your suggestions regarding the ResSwitch.sh file and went down a bit of a rabbit hole but I'll sum it up. Hashing out or deleting those lines in the ResSwitch.sh file took care of the refresh issues, but introduced resolution issues where most of the games only displayed in the center third of...

Re: Switch back to MAME2003 and how to force refresh to 60

Thanks @dee2eR! I will try those options and report back. Instead of hashing out those lines in the ResSwitch file, can I just delete them? If so, that would be a fast way for me to test it. I'll be sure to make a backup of the file to revert to if needed. MAME2003_Plus is a good emulator but becaus...

Re: Refresh or Sync problem with some games

I tried all the above and the only thing that works is adjusting the monitor's horizontal and vertical hold pots. But then that messes up the display on all the other games that were displaying fine previously, and even the AttractMode frontend is out of sync. Not sure what else to try or maybe just...

Re: RaspberryJAMMA fried? HELP!

UPDATE: It turned out the DAC went bad. Tested this by bypassing the ArPiCade board's video connection and connecting the Pi directly to an HDMI monitor and it would display fine, then tested using the DAC into a VGA monitor would display nothing. I suspect that the 5volts on my switching power supp...

Switch back to MAME2003 and how to force refresh to 60

Two questions here: 1. I want to use MAME2003 emulator, not MAME2003-PLUS. What do I need to change in order for it to use the original MAME2003 emulator? I'm running the 3.X software on a Pi3b. 2. Is there a way to force a game (or all games) to run at 60hz instead of the games native refresh rate?...

Re: Refresh or Sync problem with some games

Any idea what setting(s) I might need to adjust? Refresh rate?

Refresh or Sync problem with some games

I’ve been running into a few games that seem like they have refresh or sync issues. Most recent one I found was Capcom Bowling (capbowl). This issue seems to occur in both AdvMame106 and Mame172. I tried changing refresh in the mameinfo.txt file but it didn't solve it (or I didn’t guess the right re...
