Re: ARpiCADE_5 beta2 - for RPi4 or RPi5

Bought a 3 pack of Sandisk A1 128GB mSD cards. Burned the beta2 image and added some roms into the mame251 folder. Started up with the Arpicade logo, then the weird colored lines things again, and finally just have a black screen. I have no idea what else I could try on my end. If anyone else is usi...

Re: ARpiCADE_5 beta2 - for RPi4 or RPi5

That adaptor looks like it should be fine, as long as it's just passively adapting HDMI to micro HDMI it should work fine. Does Balena Etcher give any options to 'optimize' the image for particular RPis or similar? If so you do not want to let it do so. While I'm not familar with Etcher it should b...

Re: ARpiCADE_5 beta2 - for RPi4 or RPi5

dee2eR: thank you for the reply. I burned my card using balena etcher on Windows 10, as I have done for past Arpicade versions. At the moment I'm too tired to do any more, but will definitely try the things you suggest this weekend and report back. Might be Sunday though, but I promise I will get to...

Re: ARpiCADE_5 beta2 - for RPi4 or RPi5

Hi dee2eR, So I setup everything and I only get this: arpicade pi5 beta 2 (small).jpg Any suggestions? Seems like there is a picture of some sort trying to display, but not at proper timings? My cabinet is a pretty standard JAMMA setup. The monitor is a 19" standard res CRT. In the past I have succe...

Re: ARpiCADE_5 beta2 - for RPi4 or RPi5

MAME 0.251 runs great for most stuff on Pi5. It's surprisingly good on Pi4 too. RA MAME has an extra frame of input processing compared to vanilla MAME, I can add the core back but I wouldn't recommend it over vanilla. MAME 0.172 and later have next frame response, depending on the game (based on t...

Re: ARpiCADE_5 beta2 - for RPi4 or RPi5

The Pi5 came, but I now realized it no longer has a full size HDMI port like my P3b+. :-/

Need to search for an appropriate adapter.

Re: ARpiCADE_5 beta2 - for RPi4 or RPi5

I've decided to order a Pi5 and try this new release. I'm hoping it will allow modern MAME versions to run well, as I was ultimately disappointed by some of the emulation issues of the old MAMEs on my Pi3+. Hopefully it will work well for me. FWIW I'm using a vertical JAMMA cabinet with standard res...

Re: ARpiCADE_5 beta - for Pi4 or Pi5.

I still have an Arpicade with a RP3+ in my cabinet.

Haven't been keeping up, but if I want to upgrade to a Pi5, is it as simple as switching the Pi3+ out for the new one? I know it also needs a cooler. Anything else to be aware of?

Thank you.

Re: ARpiCADE 4.3 (for RPi4)

Hey all. I haven't been around in a long time. I have a pi r3b+ and using the last arpicade version for it. I only run MAME games on a vertical cabinet, including some horizontal games rotated (works pretty well). Is it worth updating to a pi 4 for me? Will it help make some games run smoother and/o...

Re: New Raspberry Pi 4

dee2er,

Do you think the 2GB and 4GB RAM versions will be useful for Arpicade? Or would the 1GB be plenty?
