I’m using both Samsung and SanDiskUltra. No issues with either and both seem fast. There are different classes however:

I’m running 3.84 and have the same problem occasionally on my horizontal setup. I have not tried troubleshooting. Unsure about another screen before loading the game, but the recent 3.84 version of Arpicade loads a lot more info for Attract Mode into the Romlists (I'm learning how these work). Yep. That was it. Just hidden. For anyone in the future on a Mac you press Command + Shift + Period to toggle hidden files on/off for the folder you're looking at.
