Hi all,
I currently have a Sega Astro City that I got with a PC and emulator setup pre installed. I've had issues with the old dell pc in the cabinet running inside so I'm looking to upgrade.
Does anyone have a parts list of what I need to get it switched over? I'm wanting to run the 12 button control deck and have it all boot off the default power switch button.
Here's a link to the photos of my setup. Any tips would be appreciated.

Re: Sega Astro City
have asked for access to the drive.
Also responded via email but having issues sending to gmail address from that email. Yours returned and rather than try again I figured reply here.

Re: Sega Astro City
OK looks like you still have JAMMA wiring and from what I can see it is largely intact. Can't tell from the pics but if the cab has a JAMMA power supply you only need to adjust a few wires for the buttons and you should be good to go. You'd be removing the PC and the J-PAC so the few wires that are going to the screw terminals to the J-PAC are all that stands out at the moment. It is possible more mods have been done than are obvious though... The 4(?) buttons you have wired to the J-PAC screw terminals (I assume b5 and 6 for each player) can be wired to a kick harness header or to the JAMMA edge using my board (JAMMA standard only covers 3 buttons per player so there are a bunch of different ways buttons have been added by different companies over the years, often called a kick harness due to the extra buttons needed for kicks on SF) - I'll be happy to throw in the pins and Molex housing for a kick harness for you to crimp on to make a kick harness.
Does the cab still have the original SEGA power supply in it? It may be disconnected currently for the PC setup but will be needed for a JAMMA setup. If you don't have the original SEGA power supply you may want to just get a normal JAMMA one as the SEGA ones are pricey but if your cab still has the complete SEGA wiring it would likely involve some basic wiring to suit.
Hard to tell from the picture but if the audio amp is stereo and by passing the JAMMA edge (mono) you could keep the stereo audio if you liked too. If that amp is feeding mono into the JPAC it won't be needed as JAMMA boards have mono amp built in.
As far as what you need RPi wise, you need an RPi and the RaspberryJAMMA adaptor and an SD card with the ARpiCADE software on it. I'd recommend at least an RPi3B+ or newer Pi4 or Pi5 (Pi5 is still a bit experimental software wise).
EDIT: I'll look at the new pics now.

Re: Sega Astro City
Yeah it was all working until the PC quit. It's probably just the PCU or something simple but it's an ancient Dell Optiplex so I'm looking to see at what others have done to upgrade.
The 6 button decks all worked sweet. The emulator software is that old 1000 in 1 ROM emulator - it's a bit janky and has a bit of input lag, not terrible but it's there.
I just took a few photos of the power setup as well, this thing is a relic but it's all working. I got it from a private collection in Japan almost 10 years ago and it's all fully functioning, lights and all.
I was looking at the MiSTer FPGA to run along side ARpiCADE for the ultimate rig but I'll admit I'm venturing into some unknown territory for me haha
Don't fancy a flight to QLD?

Re: Sega Astro City
SEGA made them well, much nicer than most of the stuff that is made currently (at least what I've seen).
The conversion to PC was done sensibly from what I can see, should be easy to put back to JAMMA board use. If you want to fly me to QLD to sort it out for you we can probably sort that out, but DIY will be cheaper. lol Happy to help you either way. I'll send you an email from a different email now.
