Considering Buying One ... Have Questions

Hello,

I am considering purchasing an ArpIcade to use in a vertical JAMMA cabinet. I plan on starting with the pre-configured vertical configuration available at high score saves...

I have a few questions...

(1) Is high-score saving enabled in MAME and/or the other emulators that this device works with?

(2) If not, is it something easily configured?

(3) At bootup, will there be text showing horizontally on my monitor ... or is it masked? If not masked, easy to do so? Not a deal breaker by any stretch, but I am a little anal about it. :)

I had a few more but it looks like I can find those answers on the forums. Thanks!

Will do my best to answer your questions.

1. High scores are saved for the most part, not all emulators do it but most of the MAME versions being used will save the scores when returning to the game menu.

2. It's possible more emulators can have high score support added, but offhand I couldn't tell you the methods. Earlier versions of MAME are using the patch and high score file method, I think in the more current MAME versions it's all handled through LUA scripting.

3. By default there's no Linux system text visible at all during start up. All you should see from power up is splash, loading screen then menu. Since the transition to a png based loading message instead of using the terminal text output you can rotate the loading screens however you want (it's the only non rotated bit on some older youtube vids of the system running vertical).
