Adding Mame 0.220 to existing Rpi-arpicade

Post by RaoulJuke » Mon Nov 18, 2024 1:22 pm

currently have a r-pi running arpicade and a friend has given me a set of roms that all have been tested and work perfectly with mame 0.220, but unfortunately, i currently don't have this version of mame on the list of ones on my arpicade. Can anyone tell a massive newbie how to add it ? thanks in advance

Depending on what Pi you have it may not run great. If you have a Pi4 or 5 it may... Although if you have a RPi5 you may as well spend the same time converting the romset you have to one of the newer alrready supported MAMEs using Romcenter or similar software.

To add a MAME version you will need to first compile the version of MAME you want for the Rpi. Then make a launcher (can prob just copy from a recent MAME version existing launcher), add it to Attract-Mode (the frontend) as a new emulator, add a rom folder for it and optionally add artwork folders etc. if needed.
