Re: ARpiCADE_5 - for Pi4 or Pi5
Across the board on my vertical setup. I've recapped the chassis (awhile ago) and it was ok on v4, still had to tweak pots and got to fit. Its worse on v5. I've recently replaced a rectifier diode (mr856) as I found online where it could be bad and still produce a decent image. Well it was bad, replaced it and image got alot better and more centered but still off about 3/4 inch to the bottom of tube, right side if mounted horizontal. It has a .39 cap, tried a .47 and it's too small with it so .39 back in. Ordering some smaller caps to adjust resistance a little. It's a tv tube swap so I knew going in it would have to be tweaked.

Think I figured that one out... now onto automating the scaling and fixing the joystick inputs...
Also added the requested features to the service menu for copying MAME (172,251,274) hiscores and Attract-Mode romlists and updating the splash/initramfs. New release should be coming this week.

Dee2er, sure seems like this version has been the most challenging for you... Just wanted to say thanks for your perseverance. Looking forward to the next release. I think I've been using the ARpiCADE since late 2017, early 2018. Love it, even the challenges it gives us users sometimes.

Thanks @cool_factor
The changes made to make Pi5 work (at least as far as the user is concerned) like the older versions of ARpiCADE have included just about everything, I'm learning a lot. I still think the Pi4 and ARpiCADE_4 was a worse experience developing, luckily a few years fighting the Pi4 prepared me somewhat for Pi5. At least the results are justifying the work, at least I hope they are...

Anything you could roll in to an update that might benefit those of us who have followed along with our own edits... that would rock. I'm at a point where I doubt very serious I will be updating via full new version. Everything is working decently enough as-is... I've already put the work in to making the edits... changing splash/loading screens, etc... etc...dee2eR wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 7:30 amThink I figured that one out... now onto automating the scaling and fixing the joystick inputs...

Frankly... I'm pretty darned happy as-is... but anything you think that would be of benefit please consider the update option (or just post the edits... I have no problem following along).
Heck... I've already memorized sudo update-initramfs -k all -u -v (is this right? I didn't check.) Which lead me to inquire as to WTF sudo meant... Superuser Do. Got it... and the obviously the update command does what it say and it does so to what appears to be essentially the BIOS of Linux... inserting the splash file, etc...

lol, I haven't even memorized that one. It's in the service menu now though... at least for me.FrizzleFried wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 2:48 pmAnything you could roll in to an update that might benefit those of us who have followed along with our own edits... that would rock. Hack... I've already memorized sudo update-initramfs -k all -u -v (is this right? I didn't check.)
I can try to put together an update. It may be possible but I had to do a bunch of stuff, not all of it translates well to scripting. I can have a go at it but no promises. Possibly I can do a most of update... we'll see what happens.
Stuck on exiting FIFJ at the moment... 'esc' only unfullscreens it and it requires alt+f4 - or I'm missing something. Forcing wineserver to close causes a crash, sending a fake 'esc'then'alt+f4' with scripting works once but causes a crash on subsequent exiting FIFJ... It seems I've only partially got (I)fixeditfelix working or something (it's emulator/dynamic recompiling x86 to ARM with compatibility layers Windows binary to Linux with a mod or 2 on top of a leaked bit of software - amazing it works as well as it does really). Model 2 emulator (also Box86 & WINE) doesn't have the same behaviour either so IDK... sure i'll figure it out eventually.

I second this. Thank you @dee2er for all your work and support with this product.cool_factor wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 11:33 amDee2er, sure seems like this version has been the most challenging for you... Finally got a 2 player Sunset Riders rom working. Yay! Added sfiii and sf1112 and some missing neo geo roms and my image is looking pretty damn good now! Only thing left is to see why no atomiswave games will work (have tried multiple bios' etc) and work out why snes artwork wont show, even though in correct folders.
The image being too wide is across the board. Menus, games etc but its not crazy.... as cool_factor mentioned its about 3/4" too wide even with my hori pot turned all the way.
Re: ARpiCADE_5 - for Pi4 or Pi5
Atomiswave is a missing link to the bios. I only figured it out a couple of days ago. Will post a fix after dinner.

Re: ARpiCADE_5 - for Pi4 or Pi5
I 'think' my Atomiswave is working...but maybe not. There aren't any vertical Atomiswave that I know of... and I don't think I populated Atomiswave on the horiztonal cabinet because I have an actual NAOMI system 3 cabs away that has all the Atomiswave titles...
EDIT: Evidently there are THREE Atomiswave titles that can be run vertically... and interestingly enough, there are multiple DREAMCAST titles that can be run vertically...

He Dee2er... please post your current local time so I can compare it to the time posted to determine just how many hours difference you are from the Mountain Time Zone...
...for me, it seems you tend to post after 10PM my time... but typically I find posts from the early morning (4-5AM my time) or so...
