RE: Singe... I am to but the large zip file not in the rom folder but the framefile flder then create a fake .zip file named the same as what is in the framefile folder and put that in the rom folder?

Do I still call up "daphne" from the romlist I assume?

Still using the 'daphne' launcher and romfolder and framefile folder. On the build I was using yesterday it's like:
/boot/[firmware]/romsArcade/daphne/framefile/hayate/[the contents of the download, has images and sounds and hayete.singe]
/boot/[firmware]/romsArcade/daphne/roms/hayate.zip (this is just an empty text file I've made called hayate.zip so the romscanner picks it up)
The framefile folder, singe file and zipfile all should have the same name, in this example it's 'hayete'.

For the very first run of Ninja Hayete (and any other singe game) you will need to force singe to create a datfile as a super user due to /boot/ not being owned by the user. No idea why the datfiles arn't just distributed with the games... To do this exit Attract-Mode to the terminal and type:
sudo daphne hayete
once the game loads you can exit it, it will now work form the menu without running it as a superuser.

I can confirm on my vert build that the cross hatch pattern now fills the screen on my 25" CRT perfectly! The image after the update was upside down but fixed by just rotating in service menu. I did notice that Frizs sd theme seemed to fit almost centered as to now where its still a little low. (Im talking about "SELECT GAME WITH JOYSTICK". Its closer to bottom now then when it was upside down. Not sure why.. as said, crosshatch pattern is now perfect. I'll test out, can always flip CRT 180 if I have to. Glad I waited and didn't start messing with width cap values. I've rebuilt a few chassis where it was necessary to do so when you get that oddball CRT that doesn't want to play nice.

...and I figured it out!

OK... go in to retropie... then go to INPUTS.

You need to configure L3 (Thumb) and R3 (Thumb) as a key on your keyboard. I used M and N. You now have a Service and Test button configured for Flycast.

Woohoo!

I tested and Samurai Spirits now is Samurai Showdown 6... you can configure voice language separately if you wish too... and it all saves for the next time you play. Nice.
This works! Awesome!

Once in game.

F1 to enter retroarch menu
P1b2 to enter Main Menu
Select SETTINGS
Select INPUT
Select PORT 1 CONTROLS
CONFIGURE L3 AND R3 to preferred keyboard buttons for SERVICE and TEST buttons.
P1B2 to exit INPUTS and P1B2 to exit to QUICK MENU then RESUME

Not sure how to save these inputs for all games. They seem to remove the configured buttons on next boot of game.

Got Timegal running (and from the menu)... Hayate ... not so much. I get an error with the two versions I've found. Will keep trying. I notice that Hayate ... both versions I've gotten... have a folder called FrameworkKimmy in the zip file... not sure where that would go since unzipping would put it just int he framefile folder (where it is now). Not sure what it is.

Timegal was straight forward.

The version of Hayate that works for me has no extra folder in it. I think it was the RDG version (the version of TimeGal I used was too). I have the frameworkKimmy one too but don't know how that works, sorry.

think I may have also improved the picture position... testing now...
EDIT: now testing the update on a fresh ARpiCADE_5 SD card, hopefully I can release it tonight (my time, prob early morning for a lot of you). Also trying a Samsung EVO SD card for the first time... so far I think I'll still be recommending SanDisk Ultra or High Endurance... not seeing any speed improvement imaging to it.

EDIT: update live. See first post of the thread. Will release as a fresh image as well in the next couple of days. Feedback and questions wanted.

Does this update fix the image size for you @hashman & @cool_factor?
Fixed! Horizonal size is still turned all the way but the image now fits the screen :)

Awesome. The image lines up well on my bench PVM now too.

Ninja Hayete and TimeGal look pretty good if you like the Dragons Lair style. They're animated by Toei so it's reasonable quality anime style. Quality seems comparable to Dragons Lair to me.

I think Time Traveler was one of SEGA attempts at a hologram style game, I think it would have had a mirror with a hidden screen or something originally. The Singe remake is doing what it can...
I came across a site with a bunch of other games ... should I assume those games are non-arcade games? Many of them don't appear to be shooters... would it be beneficial to try those? Should I assume they are saturn and other console "laserdisc" games?? [EDIT: Can't find the site but I did find the one below... which is specifically for Pi it seems... but is much smaller and obviously arcade only.]

Here is a link to the discussion that has the link to some other games... all appear to be gun games except for one... Chantze's Stone...

https://github.com/DirtBagXon/hypseus-s ... ussions/70

EDIT:

Chantze's Stone looks interesting... and it's coin op. However there is additional instruction in the archive.org listing... "This game requires the '00-singe2/Framework' folder from the data repo on GitHub." ... I'll let Dee2er take a swing first I think. ;) EDIT: Tried ... why not? Nope... got me the "SAVE ME" voice and some error somewhere.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Svg2bTTwujI

EDIT: Here is the link to the BOATLOAD of Singe games...

https://archive.org/details/@dirtbagxon?page=2

Will any of those work... should I even try?

:D

Some of those will work, pretty sure I've downloaded a few of the gun games there. Not all will be worth trying, some are different versions of the same game (orig, DVD release, upscaled, etc.)

Some will be recreations of arcade games, some home computer/console, I don't recognise some titles. Unfortunately I don't know which ones are worth trying if you want to venture beyond arcade stuff. Also not sure why some of it exists, for instance the arcade version of Road Blaster works on Daphne/Hypseus but there is also a Singe version (remade?)... IDK

No harm in trying if you find something you like the look of, it may work.

EDIT: according to the first comment under the video you linked: Chantze's Stone was supposed to be a QTE LaserDisc-based game developed by Data East for arcades, but it was shelved. The The animated film was produced by Toei Animation.

-- can't be sure but if you tried the HD version see if there's a SD version, maybe it will work when the other doesn't.
