UPDATE #2: I swapped cables... (evidently they aren't exactly standard mini cables as I have 4 others here that won't exactly work)...
....and it works! I have a bad cable. I'll have Joe send me a new one. Glad it wasn't any big deal.
Sorry about that, I've never thought to check if both audio channels are getting to the JAMMA edge during testing. That could have slipped right by me and depending on what I ran to test the board wouldn't be noticable.
At least it's a quick and easy fix. It should be a standard stereo 3.5mm audio cable, they're supposed to be anyway.
Very strange... I have 4 old patch through cables and none worked without pulling the jack out a tiny bit... maybe the standard has loosened or something over the years...
No worries... such is life... now you know what game to test both channels...

is it the RaspberryJAMMA side or the DAC side you need to pull out slightly? It's possible which ever ends jack is a defective part with slightly bent internals causing it not to fit right.

Seems to be the DAC side... but the 2nd original cable works... perfectly.

Audio issue in MAME2003 and FBA rectified...
"AUDIO SYNC" is set to "OFF" by default. You want that to be set to "ON". Changing it to ON for both MAME2003 and FBA rectifies the audio pop/warble issues I was having...
Where is this? I cannot find it.

F1 takes you to the menu. PLayer 1 Button 2 takes you to the 1st of such menus.... in that menu is SETTING... in SETTINGS is AUDIO... in AUDIO is said setting...

I threw them into advmame on my build. Not sure if the mame4all roms will work, I used the advmame set ones. As it's the closest build in age to mame4all if you are trying to use the roms you have you may want to try 078, it will be the best bet for using the same roms.

As most of my questions are....this is probably pretty trivial...
So in 3.72 you could kind of "set" the game (rom) that the system opens up to in Attract Mode. Basically whatever rom is "highlighted" in the theme when you exit out all the way to the command line then reboot that seemed to kind of hard set that rom. So whenever you turn on the system it starts right on that game. (I use the SDArcade theme and that game is always the one is starts on.) With 3.82 it is always starts up on the last game that was played.
Its kind of nice to do that when you have a particular "themed" cabinet... For example I have made a couple custom builds for myself and friends. The latest was a Centipede cab...has a custom Centipede bootsplash and then Attract Mode opens up right on Centipede.
Anyway...I hope you get the point. Is there an easy way to do this that I am just missing? Not sure if it would be an Attract Mode deal, ARpiCade or what?
Again...not a big deal really but in playing around with the new version I just noticed the behavior changed a bit and was curious if anyone knew the answer.
Thanks!
Matt

It was a change in Attracct-Mode (I think in ARpiCADE 3.8).
There may be a setting in Attract-Modes menus for remember last rom position or something similar to change the behaviour back to the old behaviour. I'm not 100% certain.
