Some updated aml files to overwrite the ones in /boot/launchers/aml/

if you use the same emulators as me it should improve the game list order for arcade stuff in Attract-Mode.

Are the AML files ok for 139 and 192? Ive got a few ROMs in 139 and 1 in 192. Or should they be moved out of those?

THANKS!

I didn't make any changes to 139 or 192(? 192 hasn't been in ARpiCADE for a while) so didn't include updated versions. The released versions will still still work but the new versions for the other MAME versions have some tweaks to improve the order of sequences of games, ie.
Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat 2
Mortal Kombat 3
etc.

I only spent about an hour on it so it's far from comprehensive but hopefully it's useful to someone.

What games do you run in .139 ? I think I only use it for 2 games.

139:
lethal thunder (lethalth.zip)
looping (looping.zip)

192 was Dkong.zip but I do not use that ROM and actually copied over by mistake so its been removed.

I've been trying to figure out how to change the SDtheme to horizontal with 3.84. i did it with 3.7 but cant remember how to do it. I set video out put to low res horizontal, and attractman it horizontal right, but SDtheme makes it back to vertical again. Seems like I edit the boot configure text = 2 but I cant find that in the newest 3.84

Depending on the version of the SD theme there should be an option in the layout specific options to set it to horizontal.

Specific options? Is that accessible in the set up menu? Or service menu? I looked all over the place. Ill check again tonight but I didn't see "specific options"

Ill check again when i make it back to the home front...

Sorry my answer wasn't very clear.

Menu rotation is handled by the theme (aka Attract-Mode layout) and is adjusted not in the service menu but in the regular game list instance of Attract-Mode. In the same menu you swapped the layout there should be an option for 'layout options' (ie. options specific to that layout).

gamelist -> (press 'test' or 'tab' to open the configure Attract-Mode menu) -> Displays -> [pick the one you want to change, maybe All Games] -> layout options -> [for some themes there will be a rotation option here along with any other theme specific options]

I know at least some of the SD arcade themes have rotation options. Not sure which ones offhand.

I hope that clears it up.

Thank you to all the contributors to this latest build and improvements! I dabbled with 3.8 but now that I own 2 rasberryjamma’s I’m diving into 3.84 and learning quickly.

I found the aml romlists (thx for moving to the non-Linux partition). Two questions:

1) when the romscan runs at boot up, what exactly is changed? Are the aml files changed or some other file?

2) if there is no aml file for a version of mame, should I move roms out of that folder to one that has an aml file where the games are listed (this might be more of a mame question...)

Thank you
Kris

The romscan updates the actual Attract-Mode lists found in /home/pi/.attract/romlists . The aml files are just references for the rom scanner so it can identify the games based on the MAME rom names.

If a MAME aml file is missing the games in that folder will be skipped by the romscanner. The same will happen if the game in question isn't in the aml file. The aml files included with ARpiCADE 3.84 may not be perfect but I didn't realise there was one missing, which MAME version has no aml?
