ARpiCADE 4.3 (for RPi4)

Re: ARpiCADE 4.3 (for RPi4)
I don't use any particular brand but have had a couple that just didn't work at all (maybe 1 in 20ish). The ones I now use/supply look like these: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/40260602396 ... Swx2hdIuqG (no idea about this particular one or the seller, my supplier is currently out of stock... this is just an example)
I haven't tried one with a multi head like the one you have though, no reason that design shouldn't be OK if it fits over the DAC. If yours is a very tight fit due to the size of the multi head andf the position of the DAC it may just make poor connections rather than being outright faulty.
I recommend using one with a bit of cable rather than the solid type to avoid fitment issues, some are pretty thick.
The other option is the get a DAC with a micro HDMI cable. I recommend Vention brand if you go this route (Belkin are also great but kinda pricey), generics are extremely hit or miss... I can supply one thats been tested if needed.

Re: ARpiCADE 4.3 (for RPi4)
Prepping a 64GB card for a Pi4 setup.
What version of MAME works best ... specifically with 4-player games. .172?
Whatever version works best will get a full set of ROMs I think...

172 is the best place to start, I guess.
Many four player games are probably full speed in 230 as well.
Unfortunately I'm still far from having a definitive RPi4 game setup list.

Re: ARpiCADE 4.3 (for RPi4)
can confirm this issue. Not sure why, or what the fix is yet. Seems when ran from outside Attract-Mode MAME isn't recognising system res changes.Cjoli wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 6:19 pmQuestion on booting to a game, I had my previous Pi3 version boot directly in to Streetfighter 2 as that is the cab I have it in, set this new version to do the same but when it boots to the game its shrunk to about 1/4 the screen in the bottom left. If I exit and then go back into the game its fine?
Depending on your setup running the system in 240p only mode rather than the default lowres mode (480i +240p) may be a workaround for the issue (assuming you don't need 480i).
Re: ARpiCADE 4.3 (for RPi4)
Taking a look at PlayStation issues now. I don't seem to have the curling... it maybe the game I tested with, I'll try some more games and try to figure it out. Did discover the 480i setting from the Pi3 version isn't working right on Pi4 so one way or another I'll be updating playstation...cool_factor wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 11:45 amAny update on the PlayStation fix (curling)? Also Data East Cobra Command ROM and CHD in 231 has sound but no sound effects (gun fire and missile fire sounds)
Does the Cobra Command audio work properly in MAME on a non-RPi computer? Seems an odd RPi/ARpiCADE specific bug... but I'll find the CHD and have a look at it.
EDIT: Cobra-Command seems fine in 172 and doesn't need a CHD(?).... I don't know the game bit it seems to have gun and missile sounds. Maybe a MAME 230 specific issue.

Not the side scrolling cobra command, the data east one. Has a large nearly 14gig chd.
Re: ARpiCADE 4.3 (for RPi4)
I'll have to download it to check it out, pretty sure I don't have any CHDs that big.
Does it sound right on current MAME on a regular PC? It's worth checking if you haven't already, may just be not fully emulated yet, lots of the CHD games arn't perfect.

I am sure this has been asked and answered somewhere... but my search-fu is weak.
Should I continue assuming the Pi4 isn't able to do MAME CHD file games as of yet?
NFL Blitz, etc?

CHDs are a mixed bag on Pi4. As far as I'm aware NFL Blitz (in MAME) won't play well. Some games with CHDs do though, eg. Area51
Some Naomi games require the MAME CHDs too.
Also with Pi4 I've discovered using CHDs for console games, Playstation and Dreamcast games are convenient in CHD format... Pretty sure there's a Dreamcast version of NFL BLitz that will run well too, I know NBA Showtime - NBA on NBC is OK on DC...

Did the change to cmdline.txt fix your issue in the end? I've just had another report of it happening...cool_factor wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 4:18 pmNot connected to network. The settings I used force it to go through all possibilities. I got the info off the net. As said I know nothing of Linux other that bits and pieces off the net. I'm going to switch it back to "auto" soon and see what happens. Also from what I found on net my micro SD cards are legit.
