Re: ARpiCADE 4.4 pre-alpha
Yeah, totally understood. I don't understand the inner workings, but was hoping the emulator settings wouldn't change. If the screen layout was correct, I'd be happy, but can't seem to get it to look right.

Re: ARpiCADE 4.4 pre-alpha
Same here, I was hoping there was a way to get the .elf(I think that's what it is) from 4.3 working for newer pi's. I can't load anything but 4.4 on my pi4 and it just doesn't display properly rendering it a paper weight in this scenario. I am by no means making demands or feel entitled to anything, just really wanted the 4 to work. My pi3 works great for now but the added power would be awesome. Has to be a resolution issue or something with 4.4 as my 3 runs fine on the exact same Arpicade and cabinet monitor. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to this community dee2er, it is very much appreciated.

Re: ARpiCADE 4.4 pre-alpha
Just to document some of my findings on here if I leave resswitch as the 4.4 default I can launch most roms in 240p, it has the screen issue present. If I use the resswitch patch it will launch some games(dodonpachi, nothing else in my photo), not many and the screen issue is only present in attract. Tested in mame 230, 203, 172.

I have the same issueastro_ZOMBIE138 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 1:06 amI ran into the issue where I cannot run 4.3 on my Pi4 8gb. Tried updating eeprom and all that stuff to no avail. I can run 4.4 on my Pi and it seems to work minus one issue. My screen has a tearing, wavy or smearing effect at the top where the image is being pulled to the side. I've tested in a horizontal and Vertical setup. The Arpicade is primarily for a vertical 25" WG K7000 15khz monitor. I see it in 240p and the default low res does weird things with the image like squishing or stretching. Any suggestions or advice or is it the 4.4 build?

Re: ARpiCADE 4.4 pre-alpha
As above, also with a white boarder around the games, 4.3 will not work on my version of the Pi, 4.4 will boot.
I'll wait for an improvement for this version Pi, still have my Pi3b+ works great.

Re: ARpiCADE 4.4 pre-alpha
I swapped a known good Pi4 for a new Pi4 that didn't like 4.3 and had a chance to check this new Pi4 thing out for myself. Unfortunately it is a hardware change and you cannot run older firmware on the new Pi4s to make old Pi4 software work.
Fortunately I found a (hacky) way to make newer 2022 Pi4s run 4.3... see the 4.3 release thread (bottom of first post) for the extra files required (overwrite the 4.3 originals). 480i still won't work on the newer Pi4s but everything else seems OK (so far at least). I recommend everyone that isn't using lightgun(s) to use 4.3 over 4.4, excepting 480i new Pi4s can now run it the same as older ones.
I may do a further lightgun focused release but otherwise I'm pretty sure the 4.4 branch of ARpiCADE is now dead. For now 4.3 continues to be the 'current' Pi4 release...
Thank you all for the feedback and patience.

Great, haven't been on the forum for a bit but noticed you had a workaround, will start to make a SD card now with these overwrite files.dee2eR wrote: ↑Mon Dec 05, 2022 6:35 amI swapped a known good Pi4 for a new Pi4 that didn't like 4.3 and had a chance to check this new Pi4 thing out for myself. Hello Dee2er...dee2eR wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 6:27 amsorry I kept you waiting on this one. I have it working now. Turns out it was a simple fix once I figured out what was actually going wrong.FrizzleFried wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 2:05 pmHello!
till looking for a way to exit Dreamcast/Naomi games with 4.3... have you come across a solution to that by chance?
Here's a new copy of exitHotkey.py for use with the 4 player adaptor (exitHotkey4p.py):
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QH9kU_ ... sp=sharing
Put it in /boot/launchers/ and then either rename it so it overwrites the original exitHotkey.py OR edit naomi.sh so it calls exitHotkey4p.py instead of the original version.
I'll make it all automated with the service menu 4 player setup options in the future.
Long time... I just FINALLY was able to get around to working on this. Unfortunately... it did not work. I simply renamed the original file exitHotkey2.py then named the file linked above exitHotkey.py and...
No change. I still can't exit Dreamcast/Naomi games by hitting and holding P1 START down....

Re: ARpiCADE 4.4 pre-alpha
I can also confirm that making a new file named exitHotkey4p.py and then modifying the naomi.sh and dreamcast.sh files to call the new file at the bottom of each file also does not work for me.
Again... holding down the P1START (or any of them for that matter).

Re: ARpiCADE 4.4 pre-alpha
At this point I think I'll just pull the DC/NAOMI games and stick with MAME.
