4-way / 8-way selectable joystick

Hey guys, I currently have a 4-way joystick in my arcade cabinet but would like to upgrade to a 4-way / 8-way joystick..

I know there are manual selectable ones or electronically controlled ones from like Servostik.. I searched but didn't see if anyone else had used one.

What are your thoughts?

I believe it would be possible to add support to the MAME launchers but I don't have the hardware to test anything. The only cab running those sort of sticks I've seen just had a button on the control panel to switch 4/8 ways (it was running a 60in1), automated would be better.
