Gamelist - modify and more rom details

Post by cathaldub » Tue Aug 29, 2017 7:22 am

I've a complete MAME 0.181 romset in my roms folder, I let Arpicade generate the games list and everything is there and working, Now I just need to somehow manually edit that gamelist and remove any clones, duplicates, etc. What is the easiest way to do this? I don't want to remove the roms from my folder because its handy having a full set for updating.
Also is it possible to display more information about the game on the list, like the actual rom/set.I'm gonna use a screenshot from hyperspin here to explain what I mean, see below where it says "set3, world......."

You can edit the gamelist manually with a text editor, the main list is /home/pi/.attract/romlists/allGames.txt editing out all clones in a full set will take some time though... good luck with that.

The rom title info in the brackets like set 3 etc. is not displayed in Attract-Mode but I think it can be switched back on in the Attract-Mode menus (cab 'test' or keyboard 'tab' to access Attract-Modes menus).

Thanks, I'll have a further look into that later. I've been reading up on the attract mode forum and found that there is filters you can apply to the gamelist using the CATVER.INI file which will filter out the crap(clones, puzzles, mahjong, etc), so that's an option.

I gave up on version 0.181, it couldn't run ghouls N ghosts, MK or a lot of my favourites smoothly, I have a complete romset 0.106 setup for advance Mame as it seems to play the most games without issue, I might try setup each emulator with the best supported games at some stage but for now advancemame seems to cover everything I've tried, high scores worked, etc

For anyone else looking for this, I found a theme which has exactly what I was looking for
It's the Pandora's box 4 theme and its designed specifically for 15khz so is perfect
Can be downloaded herehttp://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=1003.0

Its worth noting you might need to go into the layout.nut file and change the
fe.layout.preserve_aspect_ratio = true;
to
fe.layout.preserve_aspect_ratio = true;

to fill the screen correctly depending on your monitor, I've it perfect on my 21" CRT 15khz now, I did need to play around with the font sizes, I'll post my layout.nut if anyone is interested

For me this theme shows without any game names visible in the game list. Everything else looks like it should but there are no titles for the games. Anyone else having this issue?

EDIT: nevermind, turns out I'd broken my gamelist doing something else... it was just PEBCAC
