What would cause the mame menu text to be off screen?

Vertical set-up. std res WG CRT. Set to low resolution vertical. Game looks and plays fine. But when I hit tab the menu text is way too big. Tried in a few different games, same thing. Using mame .172.

I'll have a look at this today. It's possible using a smaller font will fix it up, not sure without having a look. I'll update this post once I've checked it out.

I haven't come up with anything yet.

Sorry I didn't update, I did have a quick look and can confirm the behavior but I already have it set to the small font too. I wish I had more bdf fonts to try, haven't been able to find one smaller than the small one in use yet.

If you need a workaround to be able to adjust a dipswitch setting or something you could try running MAME in 480i to get some extra width for the text to render in. Running MAME from the command line without using the launcher will bypass the res switching to 240p.

/home/pi/mame172/./mamearcade [rom]

Probably not practical if you want easy access though.

Did anyone ever find a solution for this? I still have this problem, just been living with it.

What version of ARpiCADE are you running?
