Kanomi 4 player - player 3/4 start button and menu issues

Hello!

I have a 1989 tmnt cab. 4 player, 2 button.

For some reason I can’t access the menu. I had it made to boot up to TMNT.
I hold player one jump or attack button for 5 seconds. No luck. Tried the other players as well. No luck.

Also, I have buttons hooked up to the coin mec that when pressed insert coin. Worked great on the original PCB but is not working for my player 3 and 4.

Any suggestions ?
Thanks!
Richard

As TMNT cabs didn't actually have dedicated start buttons (they reused the jump button for start) you may need to adjust the hotkeys.ini to work with your setup. If you haven't already done so I'd make a backup image of the SD card first just in case.

How were your previous coin buttons hooked up? Are they wired to the coin inputs or the service credit inputs? Is there any extra credit distribution board involved?

Ive been trying to help this Richard along on facebook actually thats how I got here to find this post. So as stated he boots to turtles and has Joes Konami image. In order to get back out into the menu he needs a player 1 start button correct? Like all other image? From a video I watched from joe it says hold down player 1 action buttom 2 to exit to menu. Im thinking that maybe he needs to find player 1 start in his harness, or remap as you stated?

I also suggested first thing make a copy, showing him how to do that tonight by a video..

I'm not certain what hotkey settings would have been included with a custom build. If @RichardTMNT can post a copy of hotkeys.ini I will be able to confirm it though.

@Kickman thanks for helping out.

I'm not sure if the users cab is a nice original dedicated cab that they don't want to modify but having actual start buttons would probably be the best way to do it, both for compatibility with other games and making it less likely to accidentally exit games (for example if you were holding down shoot in a game to auto fire or similar). It's all configurable though so we should be able to find something that works with what's there.

I have start buttons right above the coins doors. 4 of them. One for each player. They are wired to the coin mech, they worked perfect with the original pcb.

I would drill new buttons in the cab if needed. Would that be easier? Or I could re wore the coin buttons. Can you plug them into the arpicade somewhere? In the USB or elsewhere?
Open to the easiest solution.

Sorry, now I'm confused...

How do the start buttons attach to the coin mech? Do you mean credit buttons?

Is there one or four coin mechs on your cab?

Sorry. There are four coin slots on the cab. Above each coin slot is a button wire to the credit control. 4 buttons in total.

If you trace players 3 and 4 credit button wiring back to the PCB what input are they connected to? If they're wired to the service credits rather than the regular coin credit input it could explain the symptoms you have there.
