Is this refresh rate possible? Info on Tron says thats its refesh rate. Trying to get Tron working and the game seems to be playing in double speed if that makes sense. Tried Roms for 106 and 172, trying 203 later today and will update results.

Re: 31khz
UPDATE: Plays well in .203 with the exception of an audio pop every now and then. Guessing its due to Tron's refresh rate of 31khz.
Re: 31khz
Yeah, there's only one 480i res used (at least at the moment) in ARpiCADE, so the refresh rate probably doesn't line up quite perfectly.
For MAME 0.172 or 0.203 adjusting the speed slightly using the MAME menu will probably stop or reduce the pops.

Re: 31khz
Would that speed setting be accessible via TAB?

Re: 31khz
Found that but no speed setting or is the refresh rate considered the speed?
Re: 31khz
In this instance refresh rate can be considered game speed. Unfortunately I'm having a look at it now but the refresh slider only seems available in 172... MAME menu reports the game is 30hz
What settings are you running the system in? I get very different results with Tron at different system settings. At default settings they seem to be the same speed. If you're running in progressive scan only vert they both were too wide for the screen but 172 did run too fast, 203 seemed normal (but both had a lot of overscan on the sides due to not running in 480i). Progressive scan only horizontal they're both too thin.
Vertical monitor booting in 480i gives me the same results as you report, annoyingly the 172 refresh slider doesn't have enough range of motion to slow the game to correct speed...
A quick investigation later... you need to have cheats activated to have the refresh rate slider appear. From the command line type

scroll down to "CORE MISC OPTIONS" and change "cheat" from 0 to 1. (ctrl+x to exit, y to save) back at command line typenano mame203/mame.ini
Once you have the refresh rate slider working in 203 dropping it one step seems to improve the occational pops.sudo reboot

Re: 31khz
vertical 25" crt low res with latest updates and ill try those settings. Never experienced what you are describing with the thin or stretching in 203 ROM is tron2. A couple games (can't remember which ones) did have what you described but I adjusted I believe horizontal width and height to make game fit screen right around 850-900 range with no ill affects.
