PI 4 install issues

Post by Fireball2 » Fri Sep 09, 2022 11:02 pm

I am using Arpicade for the first time and am having issues with the install. Using Rpi 4 board and not getting any image after following the install instructions, hoping I am missing something simple.

I have imaged realease 4.3 on a 16gb card using the instruction by @frizzlfried. Once in the cab the green light has 3 slow flashess followed by 4 quick flashes. Nothing is shown on screen. I have tried this on a new 128gb card and has the same result. Have tried in 2 jamma cabs that run a 60 in 1 with no issues.

Have also tried the 4.4 alpha release. The green light now flashes erratically but still nothing is seen on screen.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like the software may be running so it's probably worth checking the HDMI connection(s) first up. Make sure the micro HDMI is in the closest-to-the-SD-card-end micro HDMI on the RPi4 and that it is seated properly. If you have amicro to full size HDMI adaptor also check it is seated properly. Also check the VGA plug end of the DAC on the RaspberryJAMMA board is well seated.

If you're unsure about the connections feel fre to take a photo of your setup and I'll see if I can spot anything.

Hopefully it's not much more than a loose connection causing the issue.

I forget to mention that cabs I am using have CRT's.

I have just tried the HDMI connection through the DAC, first powering through the JAMMA harness and secondly using a RPi power adapter. The is no video coming through either way.

For the next step I will test this on a mates setup, and then try his working Pi on my cab.

What should the green light sequence be if the Pi is running properly? I get different flashing sequence for the 4.3 image and the 4.4 alpha.

If I had to guess 4.4 is booting.

Please take a photo of your setup and I'll see if I can spot the issue. It should work on low res monitors using the default settings. Not sure what you mean by you tried the HDMI though the DAC but I'm still thinking it could be a connection issue.

I connected HDMI monitor via the micro usb as suggested and Arpicade is running. Still not getting any output via JAMMA and I have the voltage in the cabinet at 5.1v. Photos attached.

Thanks
Pete

You need to plug the DACs HDMI input into the first HDMI output of the Pi, the one closest to the SD card slot. As it is you don't have any video signal getting to the JAMMA board.
