Hi,
I posted this on KLOV but doesn't look like there has been much action there for a few days.

While waiting for the 3.8 fixes I decided to build a new 3.72 image.
Here is where I'm at on the process.

I built a brand new sd card image of 3.7>3.71>3.72.
Installed the roms from the kickman image.
Set the theme to attractman-vert. shows the vertical pacman maze for the menu.
From the menu list I set it to hi-res vertical.

When I start any game, the games still pull up in horizontal.
How do you get the games to show vertically?

For 3.72 (and 3.8) the 2 files controlling the hotkeys system are /boot/hotkeys.ini (config file) and /usr/local/bin/hotkeys (script controlling it). In emulators you want the commands for exit(ui_cancel), pause, coin 1 and ui_menu to be the standard MAME keyboard commands (esc, p, 5 and tab respectively) to work with the hotkey system. Coin 1 also needs to have the JAMMA input set for it in the emulators, if it is only set to 5 you won't have working coin input. The current limitation of the hotkey system is only player 1 inputs can be used (and also it's buggy with some keyboards).

As far as the rotation goes I think that issue could be a couple of things on 3.72. See this thread:

Or could also be the advmame rc files (if it's regular advmame1.4/3.0). Someone contacted me today with advmame ror issues in 3.72 they fixed by using the 3.811 update version of the advmame.rc file.
Or if nothing rotated including the loading screens then maybe the auto config didn't run, did you uncomment it in /boot/lauchers/servMenu.sh ?
All the rotation logic for 172 is done in the launcher so they should be ok if the auto config ran correctly.
