Arpicade Jamma kick harness issues

Post by Meph » Sun Jul 09, 2023 5:38 pm

I have an Arpicade Jamma adapter that I bought when they were first listed on Highscoresaves years ago and i'm running a Pi 3B on it. I installed Arpicade 3X on it and got my rom packs. Today I threw a few roms on it and put it in my Big Blue cabinet that I primarily run a few CPS2 games in it so it has a standard jamma and a CPS2 kick harness in it.

So I added my own kick harness to the Arpicade and then disconnected the CPS2 kick harness connectors (6 colored only, not the chained grounds) and connected the 6 wires from the kick harness. I switched it to 1+2 off, 3+4 on for the 6 button config and booted up my Arpicade. It boots but no controls work at all. If I switch it back to 1+2 on, 3+4 off then it functions as normal and P1 Buttons 1-4 work, P2 buttons 1-3 work. Any other configuration and everything freezes up and I have no control. And yes, that kick harness is fully seated. I made sure it was all the way in and tested it again after seeing this pic. Is there something I am missing here?

You want dipswitch 1+2 ON, 3+4 OFF (normal JAMMA) for a kick harness setup. The other way is for 6 on JAMMA like the Pandoras Box uses. Capcom usually wired their cabs input grounds to pin 27/e (at least in my experience) which will definately require 1+2 ON to function right.

Somewhat of a guess for the 5 inputs you don't have working.... were they grounded via the CPS2 kick harness? If so just link their grounds to the grounds from the JAMMA edge under the control panel and everything should work. Basically have every input ground daisy chained together and you shoudl be good.

If that's not it let me know and we can try to figure it out.

Hey Meph,

I read your post about the Jamma kick harness issues on the ARpiCADE Forums. One suggestion is to check the dipswitch settings and make sure 1+2 is ON and 3+4 is OFF for a standard JAMMA setup. Additionally, if certain inputs aren't working, try linking their grounds to the grounds from the JAMMA edge under the control panel. This should help resolve the problem.

Good luck with fixing the issue!
