Copying Settings from 3.72 to new 4.3.2

Post by Hashman » Wed Nov 22, 2023 4:41 am

Hey everyone. I've been running a pi3 with 3.72 for years now and love it. It took me ages to get every game working and lots of favourites and keymapings etc.

I'm trying out 4.3.2 with a pi4 as I want to get NAOMI games running. I have them all working but wondering if there is a way I can copy all my settings from my exisiting 3.72 to the new build.

Or can I place the update onto the 3.72 card and update directly?

TIA

Dave

most of the config wont be able to be transferred. Some of it probably can, but figuring out the bits that can be transferred without causing surprises may be more trouble than it's worth, input stuff maybe, video stuff probably not, MAME nvram etc may be OK... There are just too many differences between 3.72 and 4.3.2 unfortunately.

But also, you wouldn't get the best out of the Pi4 by just copying everything accross from Pi3. Pi4 has the power to play many more games in later MAME releases (ie MAME 0.172 or newer) rather than AdvMAME or 078.
