SDArcade V2.1

Post by FrizzleFried » Wed Apr 11, 2018 4:44 pm

...and today we have an update for the SDArcade theme. This update adds video snaps to the center frame. I currently have it set for 2 seconds I believe... this can be adjusted in the layout.nut, as can the "fade" time (currently set for 500ms)... it also can run in either vertical or horizontal mode...

Here is a video of it in action (filmed sideways on my horizontal Capcom cabinet)...

Looks great. I look forward to seeing how you did that.

Yeah this one looks awesome.

I'm not sure if I should make this my default vertical theme instead of the CRT one..

I am but a hack... I take zero credit other than for putting things where they are supposed to go. :)

The code came from a user over at the attract-mode forum who offered it up when I asked if someone had coded a timer to trigger the alpha for a frame...

It did come out pretty spiffy I think.

I do notice, when this is set on vertical Hi-res. Everything is out of whack.

Sorry I'm sure I used a hard number for the x and/or y coordinates, etc... which would screw things up for higher resolutions. I could do a little work to try to fix that issue. I've only ever done fixed low-res layouts... I need to get used to programming for multiple resolutions.

OK. I was recently PMed a request to add 'number of times played" functionality to this layout. I've done so. Since I was in there already I decided to add a "static box" (using a png) option rather than the color-rotating box... which I am mostly done doing as well...

...can anyone think of anything else they'd like to see? Maybe a different background than the starfield? If so... gimme some ideas!

:D

Will the number of games played be an option to see or not see? Also what's the new static frame going to look like? Was never a big fan of the animated rainbow frame. Is this gong to replace version 2.2 on your site?

It will be an option. I've also moved the Game x of x to the top left rather than center...

I'm considering including a number of different static frames to choose from. Would likely just include a few PNG files that you guys can rename as box.png and box_vertical.png (yes, there is a different static png for vertical and horizontal so as to maintain proper aspect ratio on the frame)...

Here is the first...

frame1.png
frame1.png (6.29 KiB) Viewed 5535 times
frame1_vert.png
frame1_vert.png (6.36 KiB) Viewed 5535 times
...and when it's ready I'll announce here and also put it up on my blog as well.

Sweet. Working/learning how to implement bezels for my 25 in CRT. Hate the dead space on the sides, do like being able to play vertical and horizontal on same cab though. Prob I find is info is scattered all over the place.... Btw dig that animated loading screen, hope you figure it out...
