Space Bomber

I found another that I just can't seem to get working. Space Bomber. I read on KLOV where someone claimed that Space Bomber worked at some point but then stopped working. You suggested to add it to the ADVMAME.SH file to force to run under 3.0 ... I did ... and it didn't work unfortunately.

I've also tried every other emulator from 181 down...

Any suggestion?

ALSO... there are a couple newer CAVE games ... Ibara being one ... I am guessing that the Pi doesn't have the horsepower to run them? I did get Ibara to run on .181 but man, it's at about 10-15% speed... at best.

I had a look to see what I can figure out. I suspect there's an undocumented (or I haven't seen it written down if it is) difference between AdvMAME 1.4 and 3.xxxx romsets. It's supposed to be 0.106 romset but there's some variations.

Space Bomber works for me, takes a little while to load though and at least on a hori screen was displayed with the wrong aspect. Having checked that out, I'm using the sbomberb.zip rom and it was not in mameinfo.txt (sbombera was in mameinfo.txt though so I copied that bit and renamed it and now everything is working well). I do not have it in the 3.0 array either.

As far as the later SH2 powered Cave games... yeah the Pi is just not powerful enough. I tried Do Donpachi 4 or Deathsmiles in 192 and it was amusingly slow. I hear these games are hard work on a lot of desktops too so it's no surprise a Pi isn't enough silicon for the job.

Just got back around to trying this out...

I am trying both Space Bomber and Space Bomber Ver. B... both in 106 folder... this is how things look in the allGames.txt file:

sbomberb;Space Bomber;advmame;;1998;Psikyo;;;;;;;;;;

... it will hit the LOADING screen... go blank... then kick back to menu.

This is on the 3.72 version. I'm going to try the 3.811 shortly...

EDIT: Unfortunately I have the same result with 3.811. Perhaps I'll try a different source.

Sounds like a rom issue.

Welp, I've tried 3 different "named" ROMS (sbomber, sbombera, sbomberb) ... from 2 different sources thus far and every one of them acts the same. Click on the game... LOADING screen comes up... you can hear a slight "pop" in the audio and then a second or two later we're back at attract mode...

EDIT: After acquiring another SBOMBERB.ZIP ROM file, I can now report that it is functioning running in the MAME106 folder running ADVMAME.

I’ve been looking for Space Bomber that will work with MAME .106 rom set for my Pandora’s Box 6 which uses .106. Where did you get that working rom from? I’ve tried a bunch and it won’t load. Thanks in advance!
