Virtua Tennis on Arpicade

Post by chrixdj » Fri Feb 23, 2024 1:20 pm

Hi everyone, I purchased an arcade cabinet with CRT monitor with "Arpicade JAMMA adapter".
There are already thousands of arcade and console games inside but my dream is to be able to play "Virtua Tennis".
I tried downloading an arcade rom of the game onto the SD card and copying it into the various "mame" roms folders.
Unfortunately when I put the SD card back into the arcade cabinet and turn it on the game doesn't appear anywhere.

Am I doing something wrong? Do you have suggestions?

Thank you!

What version of the RPi does your cab have? You will need at least a Pi4 for Virtua Tennis. Originally Virtua Tennis ran on the SEGA Naomi hardware which is not well supported by MAME, you need to use the dedicated emulator for Naomi.

When you add games to a build that has the default rom scanning at start up switched off you can re-scan the games form the service menu. I recommend making a backup image of your SD card first, as if anything goes wrong you will be able to fix it up easily. Also if you have recieved the SD card pre-built by someone else there may be changes unique to it nobody knows about.

Thanks so much for the suggestions.
I made a backup of the SD card.
The Raspberry is precisely the PI4.
So should I install the "Naomi" emulator?
Can you show me a guide to do this?

Thanks!🤩

Every version of ARpiCADE for Pi4 has had Flycast *the Naomi emulator* installed by default. You should have a naomi folder in /boot/romsArcade/ ready to go.

Unfortunately I can't find the path you mention. As you can see in the photo this is the path to my folders... Can I do something?

Looks like you probably have an old version of ARPiCADE software. Not likely that's running on a Pi4.
