Super Sidekicks 2 screen jitters

Post by gyromite69 » Fri Apr 27, 2018 10:53 am

One of my favorite games when I was a kid was Super Sidekicks 2 from Neo-Geo in the arcade. On the arpicade when you run to the bottom of the screen, the screen starts to jitter and shake really fast, causing me to get a little dizzy. This is a real bummer since I really love this game and have great memories with it. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I’m running on the newest version of arpicade 3.82.

Which emulator are you using to run your Neo-Geo titles? I've gotten most success with either MAME078 (MAME2003) or FBA.

It’s on the FBA emulator

Try running it on MAME078. Have you adjusted any of the settings in FBA?

I'll try to run the game myself a little later today when I am able to get out to the garagecade to see if I can replicate your issues.

I don’t know how to adjust settings on the FBA emulator. I know how to get to the retroarch menu but afraid to move something that might make it worse. I’ll try running on MAME078 emulator and let you know how it went.

F1 takes you to the menu... you can adjust some video settings in there... just do it one at a time and if there are issues you can always reverse what you did. Just an idea...

After trying to load the game on Mame078, it brought me back to the game selection screen.

Did you move the ROM over from the FBA folder to the MAME078 folder? If so, then you might need the MAME078 version... AND you need to make sure that NEOGEO.ZIP is also in the MAME078 folder.

I see. I’ll try when I get back from work.

I just took a look and can confirm the wierd jitter in FBA. It's fine in AdvMAME (mame106 folder, neogeo.zip also required), 078 could work too but I didn't try.

Thanks for the feedback. That is one weirdly specific bug.
