If you know how to access the romlists you can use notepad++ to edit mame269 to mame 274 quick and easy:
**Dont forget to save the file.

Also, I noticed that the sample folder is now called samples so make sure to edit correct paths. I believe .advance mame rc file is looking for sample and not samples, confirmed mame251 and 274 show as samples in the .ini files

Ah, switched to 480i and it seems to be better, thanks.dee2eR wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 12:41 amProbably, but I haven't spent any time on it to be sure. Happy to take a look at it.
Are you using the default 240p only mode or is 480i available too? It's likely (assuming 480i works well on your monitor) that 480i will give better results for vector games due to the extra lines available.
Re: ARpiCADE_5 - for Pi4 or Pi5
I've updated to mame 274 and the three games that I had on 269 - Mr Driller, 2 and G are no longer working.
The roms have been moved to /boot/firmware/romsArcade/mame-274 I've rescanned the roms but they're not working any more, they just dump me immediately back to the game list.
I've updated the romlist in /home/pi/.attract/romlists/Arcade.txt to reflect the change:

Mr Driller G was one of the 2 games I tested (used the exact same roms too), it should work in 274. Not sure what is going on there but can take a look later today. Maybe I messed up the install script (wrote the install after I'd done it manually on my build).mappy24 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 9:37 pmI've updated to mame 274 and the three games that I had on 269 - Mr Driller, 2 and G are no longer working.

I've played a few games thus far... not Mr. Driller though.

It is the year 2048 on the boot screen of Mr Driller... I think I overslept last night.
@mappy24 The three Mr Driller games work in 274 for me here. Do other games work in 274 for you? Maybe something went wrong in the updating process. It may be worth recopying the roms onto the SD card from your PC too.

Re: ARpiCADE_5 - for Pi4 or Pi5
I think the MAME start up behaviour could be being influenced by Attract-Mode in some way, not exactly sure though. I spent some time launching games from the console, using the same launcher scripts as normal, and did not once have a game loading crash... possibly just a coincidence. Wanted to replicate the issue on the console to hopefully see what was happening...
EDIT: tried running Attract-Mode from the console so I can see any errors when MAME crash starts. But all that got me was the message that MAME segfaulted, no extra clues. I immediately launched the same rom using the launcher script from the command line a few times just in case but it always worked...

Is there a new version of attract mode to try? Perhaps a regression to an older version (I do believe the version from the Pi3 image is an older version)?
