possibly, I hadn't thought of that.
EDIT: actually doesn't make sense if the Pi5 power supply also acted the same...

I have the power board attached the arcade power supply on the 240v in. Maybe the psu is still being the culprit. Oh and of course mate. Work is not far from yours

Does your cab have one of those anti zap coin mech protection thingys? In LAI cabs it's a black hobby box looped into the power distribution panel with grey AC power wiring and Utilux plugs, probably screwed down behind the coin box (cab depending).
EDIT: if so, it may be worth trying bypassing it. As far as I'm aware you're better off without it anyway. If you don't know what I'm talking about don't try moving the AC power wires around though, don't want anything major to go wrong...

I've found an emulation bug in MAME 0.274 that isn't in 0.251. No idea if it's caused by boxpatch changes, MAME changes or GroovyMAME changes (so I'm not reporting it anywhere else). If you play Wonder Boy in cocktail mode in 274 player 2 has some sort of layer/sprite issues, it's fine in 251. Someone else mentioned to me this was an old MAME bug, if so I'm surprised it's back (at least on this particular build of 274).
EDIT: decided to check 275 (on my desktop PC, using MAME from the package manager) and it's bugged in it too.

Should I report when I come across games in t 274 that don't work but work in 251? I've come across a couple ... trying to remember them now though.
Typically if it doesn't work in .274, it will in .251 or .172... if not, I give up and move on to another game.

It's helpful to hear about any game that has a reason to be in any particular emulator, excepting 274 as it is the defacto default MAME. I think (hope) at this point anyone using this software is using 274 as the go to version.
In testing the 1800 some games in my list I'm up to mid 'd'... but I'm not always testing in list order, my testing can be a bit random (sometimes actual random selections using b6 in the menu). Only a handful of games in 251 so far.
Are you still testing in multiple MAMEs or have you wittled your list down to 1x each title?

I created a mixed list that started off as .274. As I go through the games, if I come across some that don't work, I try .251 next then .172 if necessary. If none work, I remove it from my "favorites". I also have added NAOMI and DAPHNE/SINGE games to this master list...
I started by going through the all .274 games list and widdling it down to about 750 games... I'm working on those 750. When I complete... I'll go back in to the .274 list and start working on the games that I've not already favorited... that's how I pare the games down... I favorite them and then create a favorite dedicated display. When I go through that list, if the game doesn't work or just sucks... I hit "F" and take off the favorite pulling it from the list.

My list is probably the shortest. Im 57. My arcade years started in late 70s earliest I remember is Asteroids. I quit going/playing in the arcades around 88/90. Anything above those years I never played, was never into the fighting games. Im sure theres some great schmups beyond those years but for me, its the nostalgia factor. Whats fun is finding 80s games Ive never seen back in the day and those I did see but never played. You got to love Arcade Italias search capabilities...

For my cabs my lists are much shorter. After the first cab I built I realised massive game lists are mostly scrolled past to find the (probably less than) 100 games you really love playing. That said, I have discovered some fun stuff testing massive lists to see what works well, occasionally I've even rediscovered a game whos name I had long forgotten.
