Screen saver locking up

Hello all.

Have a new issue on a 3.82 build. After the screen saver runs for about 1/2 hour it freezes and I have to reboot.

Any ideas? Would a specific image lock things up?

it could be related to changes in Attract-Mode, therefore only noticed as a difference between ARpiCADE versions. I haven't had the screen saver lock up and have run it for much longer than a half hour though. Are you using different preview vids to your previous ARpiCADE build?

Maybe one (or more) of your video files have either not copied properly to, or corrupted on, your SD card or are just not liked by Attract-Mode?

I really need to clean up that preview file anyway... it is based off of the original HSS image and is very bloated. I only have about 100 games on it!

If I had to guess...that would be exactly it.

It never fails, I get to 99.5% just how I want it and...boom! something happens. No worries though.... thoroughly enjoy playing around with it and working on new stuff

As always, I appreciate the awesome support. I am sure I will get this juuusttt right and you will drop a new update on us and back to playing I go...ha!

Matt, did removing the bloat from the preview folder work? Just noticed that I experience the same freeze up. Ive got about 200 games also built off the HSS original image when purchased.

Yes, I actually totally recreated the snaps folder screenshots and vids. Took awhile, but I have had very few issues since.

That being said, every now and then, I will leave the machine and come back 4-5 hours later and the machine is locked in the screen saver. Maybe 1 in 10 times. Typically, I dont have the machine on unattended for that long so it hasnt been an issue.

3.82 image. Attract mode with Frizz's SD Arcade theme that plays vids.

I think, but am not sure as it's early days, the new version of Attract-Mode is more stable. I have had multiple 12 + hours tests without any issue. Of course, I hadn't seen any issues with the version with 3.82 and 3.81 until after others had reported it so it may just be luck or something - I rarely have it run for more than a few hours at a time.

Hopefully it will be better in 3.83 (soon).

Very cool about a new update, will it be a full or can it be done within v3.82?

It's another full release. To get WiFi working on RPi3B+ and add support for RPi3A+ meant updating both the firmware and kernel which would have made it tricky to do as a small download update.
