Fighter and Attacker problem no idea which emulator to use
I am trying to replicate what @mR_CaESaR did with vert but I am having problems with some games like Fighter and attacker. Its a na1/2 game I am not sure wht emulator to put it in as when i try to load it just quite back to AM. I am not sure what rom to use also maybe thats my problem?
Re: Fighter and Attacker problem no idea which emulator to use
I'm not familiar with the game but it's probably a rom issue or maybe a missing bios. Generally I'd recommend trying MAME 172 first, followed by AdvMAME (assuming the game is supported by older MAME builds) if it runs badly in 172.
Depending on the game you will probably require roms that are specific to the MAME versions. Some games seem to run the same romset for many many MAME versions, some seem to get re-dumped regularly with incremental improvements requiring the correct romsets for specific MAME versions due to these changes.

You should try it dee2er it has an awesome sound track. The sound track was done by the guy who did the soundtrack for ridge racer.

Re: Fighter and Attacker problem no idea which emulator to use
Im currently being challenged by the Nebulas Ray ROM and NAMCOC75 file. If I launch on PC from various versions of MAME and ROMS above 172 (Tried MAME 174 and 203) and the game launches and plays. On the Pi Ive tried 172 and 203. Both launch the game once indicating something about a mismatch and then on second launch it gets to ROM test screen and just sits there. On PC the ROM test screen is identical, sits for about 7 seconds but then the game launches. Any pointers?

Point Blank and Outfoxies run pretty good in AdvMAME, I believe they use the same Namco hardware as Nebulas Ray. So it's probably your best bet, if it's anything like Outfoxies it will be slow in newer versions of MAME on Pi anyway. I'll have a look at it today

fighter and attacker is na1/na2 its older hardware. I tried mame106 just goes back to menu not sure what rom set to use. it does work in 78 but the sound is all sorts of screwed up.
Re: Fighter and Attacker problem no idea which emulator to use
I have the fix for both games in AdvMAME: In the file /boot/launchers/advmame.sh find the advThree array and add:
They seem to run basically at full speed, both have a little bit of frameskip (only occasional, not constant, in NR it seems to be when there are enemys bigger than the screen visible, in F&A it just seemed random) but is very playable. I didn't notice the frameskip much/at all in NR but it was noticable in F&A
I decided to try AdvMAME 094 to see if they're any better, my instinct said F&A may be but NR will have issues with the emulation that weren't present in AdvMAME 3.0... and I was right, both ran without any frameskipping in 094 but NR had no sound. F&A may have had differences in the audio too, it had sound but seemed to sound different in its attract mode (it may have it's own audio issue... definitely felt smoother than in 3.0 though) I'm not familiar with the game to know what is correct but I assume the original PCB would have great sound and run smooth...
With an overclock on a Pi3B+ they may be fullspeed in AdvMAME 3.0 but I haven't tried that. They both seem really close without an overclock.
to the stuff that is already in the array."nebulray" "fghtatck"

Thanks I'll try that above... Speaking of the Pi3B+ is it a drop on replacement for the Pi3 on the Raspberry Jamma board? Everything still line up? Thinking of upgrading mine to slightly overclock with fans. My current Pi even with a fan and very slight overclock doesn't seem to like it. It's at stock settings now.
