looking for some help

Hi all,
I recently purchased ARpiCADE. After several emails between myself and Dylan. I added the extra +5v and -5v cables to the jamma loom.

A bit of background on the setup I have.
I purchased a gutted Arcade system sadly all it contained was Joysticks buttons, Smoked safety glass, coin mech + counters, and the cabinet. I acquired several CRT monitors and repaired them. Sadly I didn't get the output I was after using the VGA to RGB converters. Someone on Facebook recommended ARpiCADE and I thought I'd give it a go. Now I have a few questions.

As an Australian am I following the right documentation?

So far this is what I have done.

I purchased the following.

JAMMA power supply
PC power socket with fuse
AC power filter
Porcelain power distribution

Added the 2 extra cables

the image below is the wiring work I completed so far. I want to make sure everything looks correct. I do recall some sites have mentioned removing the 12v cable. Is this correct?

The additional cables you've added to the harness look good, the connections at the power supply look fine too. Keep the 12v, it's used by the audio amp section of the RaspberryJAMMA.

For the AC wiring you should be OK following that guide, I didn't see anything that was too localized. If your power supply is AC switchable make sure it's set to 240v input for Australia (the switch is often underneath so it can't be switched when the supply is mounted (in some power supplies it's an internal jumper rather than a switch) - if you bought the power supply from an Aussie seller it's probably already set for 240v but it doesn't hurt to check.

One thing to be aware of is your monitor chassis may want AC120v rather than AC240v (or may work from either) - you probably know about that side of things if you repaired the monitor... the guide you posted is written for 120v so there's no mention of potentially needing to step down the AC voltage for the monitor.

Thanks, I checked the power supply it's set to 240v.

Now I have connected the wires.

looks good, the only thing I'd recommend is heat shrinking over the connections in and out of the line filter (and if they're also exposed the jug plug cord input), just in case a coin or finger finds its way there....

After checking all the connections I found I forgot to add the fuse.
Now I am getting power to the RaspberryPI and the ARpiCADE. It appears my resolution appears to be off a little.

How can I get the x-axis or horizontal size to reduce?

If you don't have enough horizontal adjustment on the monitor side you can adjust it in config.txt using the overscan settings, do not adjust the vertical overscan settings though as it will ruin the picture quality by forcing the games off the correct scanlines.

EDIT:
if you use Windows and don't already have it get Notepad++ for editing files. Windows built in text editors will cause problems. Also make sure you always safely remove/eject/unmount the SD card before pulling it out of your PC, don't just yank it out...

I assume modifying the overscan_left and right options.

exactly, I think you'l want left but it all depends on which way up the monitor is...

Thanks for the assistance. Working great so far. Just need to get my monitor and everything else installed into the cabinet.
