OK. I added ZING ZING ZIP... (a worthy addition BTW and one that should be added to the master 'vertical' list).
Like Zaxxon... I simply added the ROM to the 106 folder in my windows BOOT folder.
For some odd reason, maybe because I've never used them before and I don't want to screw up all the work I've done already... but I'm sort of "wary" of using the automated commands to do things. I probably should just test them all out on a copy or something... anyway... I MANUALLY added the games (both ZAXXON earlier and ZING ZING ZIP last night) to the ALLGAMES text file that is on the linux side in the attract folder....
This successfully added the game to the list... and with ZAXXON all worked as intended. Unfortunately, last night, ZING ZING ZIP works, but wouldn't coin up. I tried to manually coin up. Nope. I determined that for some reason the game is set up for "9" as the coinup. So I go in to change the coinup button via TAB and it says that it's set for 5? So I save and at that time coin up works. I power down, re-load... back to not working. Again I verify that the 5 is in there and again it starts working after going in.
My solution was to set for FREEPLAY in the DIPs... but I am not sure what's going on with that one...

Re: Odd NO COINUP Behavior
(For keyboard) 9 is the default service credit setting in MAME, 5 is coin 1, 6 is coin 2.
The joystick shortcut start1 + b1 sends a keyboard '5', otherwise the JAMMA inputs are sending joystick commands rather than keyboard. Coin 1, coin 2 and service credit are all sepperate joystick button inputs. If coin 1 was set to keyboard 5 and not also a joystick input you would be able to coin up using the shortcut (or keyboard) but not the coin 1 input on the JAMMA harness.
Just an idea, I could be way off.
