Daphne Emulator setup
I tried playing both Dragons Lair and Space Ace tonight and there is no input from the joystic or buttons. I was looking around on the Daphne site and the talk about DaphneLoader.. Do I need to run this to set anything up? I looked under the config-emulators, but didn't see anything about controls.
Re: Daphne Emulator setup
That's very odd, it should be set up already. I haven't used Daphne in a while but have never had any issue before, I don't think anything should have changed... I'll look into this and get back to you, you definately don't need to add any extra software (except the games).
Re: Daphne Emulator setup
Nevermind.. I watched a youtube video and apparently I'm just not good at the game.. Its been a very long time and forgot how to play. Seems to be working now..

How did you end up setuping Dragon's lair? I always end up having an error "could not parse video because lair.m2v could not be opened". It seems there is a permission issue... Have you experienced something similar?

Re: Daphne Emulator setup
Here's the error I get in the Daphne log file. From what a see, the owner of all rom folders is root, so maybe it is the problem...

Re: Daphne Emulator setup
runnning on Pi /boot will always be owned by root as it is mounted before the user system starts up. I don't think that's the issue you're having.
Does lair.m2v exist? It should be in /boot/roms/daphne/framefile/lair/ all the files in that directory will be lair.[someextension] ie. lair.ogg, lair.m2v, lair.txt etc.

Yes all the files are there. I was assuming there was a read/write error. Maybe my lair.m2v is corrupted. I will try to reprocess it.

Re: Daphne Emulator setup
I've been able to make the game start by copying the lair.dat file on the pi as well as the other files. Here's the content of the lair folder:
- lair.dat
- lair.m2v
- lair.ogg
- lair.txt
Now the game starts but is lacking most of the sounds. The announcer in the attract mode is speaking and when the I start game (after coining up), there is the "input beep" sound that is working. However the music and the game sound effets are all missing.
From what I've read, the sounds are in the .ogg files. Is there anything I am missing?
Thanks,
- lair.dat
- lair.m2v
- lair.ogg
- lair.txt
