vertical screen role on menu
So all was well on my dedicated NBA Jam cabinet and one day I noticed the screen rolling on the menu screen. I played around with the hold but it just slowed down but never stopped. But when I select a game, it's fine. Are there any modes I should try to stop the screen from rolling on the menu? Thanks in advance.
Re: vertical screen role on menu
Assuming it's an interlacing thing trying the '240p only' mode shoudl fix it up. There will be less screen real estate for menus but less flickering, plus hopefully helps with your roll issue.
May be a sign your mintor chassis could use a service too... hard to be sure but I haven't heard of anyone suddenly struggling to sync to 480i before. May be unrelated too... hard to say.

When I first set it up I switched it to 240p. I will make sure that I'm still on that mode. A little rusty on gettting to that option though? Thanks.

To access the service menu: from the game select menu press 'f4' on a keyboard or the cabs 'service' button.
Re: vertical screen role on menu
I spoke to the tech who rebuilt my Hantarex Polo chassis and he asked me what sync Arpicade uses, negative or positive or separate or composite? He also wondered if I might need to run a separate ground from PS to video ground on the monitor (4th pin in usually right after the blue he stated). Can you speak to this? Thank you!
Re: vertical screen role on menu
Hi just hoping to get an answer so I can get my game up and running. Thank you.
Re: vertical screen role on menu
It's composite sync, as per the JAMMA standard. There should not be any need to combine video ground and power ground.
Sounds like a sync adjustment is all you really need, although it's possible I'm wrong. There's 40ish different low resolutions in use so there maybe a very specific spot in the adjustment where they all are happily syncing.

Re: vertical screen role on menu
Do you happen to know if it's negative or positive sync? Thank you!
Re: vertical screen role on menu
I think it's negative based on what the Pi is sending (in theory it can do either), of course I've never actually checked if the sync polarity works as it's intended on Pi so I could be wrong.
