do you need to reboot to save audio level changes?

Pacman and a few others are very loud compared to some games.
I lowered the sound in the audio setting and it said saving it.
When I turned it back on the next day, the sound was loud again and the settings hadn't saved.

Does this require a reboot so the sd card saves the information?
If so, could someone please let me know how you reboot this?
Thank you

You can reboot from the service menu (either cabside 'service' or keyboard 'f4' from the game select menu).
