Trimming down 1679 arcade list

Post by RichardTMNT » Fri Aug 14, 2020 12:53 am

Hello!
I have the 1679 arcade image in my SF2 cab
I would like to trim down the list to just have head to head fighting games (sf, ml, king of fighter, Sam showdown etc)
I pulled the SD card (which is a copy or the original image) and tried to start by deleting all the donkey Kong roms. However they still show up in the part where you select games (game just will not load as the rom is missing )
How do I delete the rom and well as delete the option to select that game?

If you're starting with a pre-built image the rom scanner is probably turned off. You can either activate the startup rom scanner in /boot/run.sh if you want it to run at every startup or run the romscanner from the service menu manually when you adjust the roms.

Right I read that in the user guide. But am not sure how to access that.
How to I get to boot/run.sh ? I have no idea. Do I access it by plugging the adapter card into my pc? Or by the USB keyboard when the adapter card is in the arpicade hooked up to the SF2?
Thanks !

You can access the service menu by pressing either 'service' or 'f4' at the game select menu.

You can access run.sh either way you mentioned. On a Windows PC make sure you use a good text editor like Notepad++ as the build in Microsoft editors will bork your files. Also make sure you safely remove/eject/unmount the SD card before pulling it out of the PC.

On the Pi just exit all the menus with 'f4' and once you're at the command line you can edit the file with the command
sudo nano /boot/run.sh
(it may be harder to do on your cab depending on your monitor)

If you haven't already done so you should also make a backup image of the SD card just in case. That way shoudl anything go wrong you should be able to restore easily.

If I press F3 while the adapter card is in the arpicade in the cab I get a green that says “emulators , displays , control , sound , into , screen saver , plug ins , scraper , general , back “

Is that where I access it?

sounds like 'f3' opens Attract-Modes (Attract-Mode is the frontend software) menus for you, weird... it's not set up to do that (should be 'tab' or 'test' to open that menu - maybe I just checked a diff software release to what you're using...). Either way, that's not the ARpiCADE service menu.

Press 'f4' or 'service' while the system is at the game selection menu to exit said menu and load the next menu (the service menu), which you can in turn exit with 'f4' and a confirmation that you want to exit. Having exited both instances of the menu you will be a the command line. When I get to the command line on a CRT I typically press enter once or twice to bring the active line down out of the overscanned area at the edge of my monitor - without doing so I cannot see the cursor as it's in the corner obscured by the monitor bezel (depending on how you like your monitor adjusted you may or may not need to do similar to see the active line).

Maybe I have some hot key issues like I did with my first one.

I can get to a “configure/emulators” menu.

I can for example select “mame203”

U set this I see a few thing with boot in them.
“Command arguments “, “Roma paths” “flyer” “marquee” “snap” “wheel”.

Any of those?
