Daphne : No sound in Dragon's Lair (only "action beep")
The problem : The games starts and plays fine. However it is missing most of the sounds : no music and no sound effects, except some : In the attract mode, the announcer is heard. In game, there is only the "action beep".
My Setup:
Arpicade 3.71
Copied the following files in /boot/roms/daphne/framefile/lair
- lair.dat
- lair.m2v
- lair.ogg
- lair.txt
Copied the rom file in /boot/roms/daphne/roms.
As for the game files, I've tried to source them with two different methods which led to the same results:
- The long one where the original dvd and Daphne is used to prepare the framefiles :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKkkwk74Arc&t=820s
- The short one where all the files already prepared :
http://thesplintershop.us/index.php/dra ... -retropie/
Bottom line : same results.
Other stuff I've tried...
I tried to delete the lair.dat file so the parsing would restart when the game boots up. It does, but then I get an error and the game quits. Here's the log file when this happens:

Not sure what to suggest, my working lair framefile folder has the four files you posted as well as
lair.m2v.bf
lair.m2v.md5
lair.ogg.bf
lair.ogg.md5
The .bf versions of the files are the exact same size as the non-.bf versions, not sure what the difference is. I imagine you're fine without the MD5s. You may want to check both the ogg and m2v file are complete in a desktop version of Daphne, in case it helps my lair.m2v is 852.4MiB and the lair.ogg is 26.2MiB
I would have thought most of the sound would be embedded in the video file (you can probably check the video and audio files in VLC or some other player). I'm no Daphne expert but if you haven't changed any of the normal ARpiCADE settings audio should work so I'm inclined to think it could be your files.

Thanks buddy. As soon as I get more time I'll investigate further.
Cheers!

Any resolution? I have the same issue... DL was working fine, I upgraded my ARpiCADE to the latest version and now all I get is BEEP and the announcer ... nothing else... and all other Daphne games (minus the 3 that won't work with the Pi) still work fine including Space Ace and DL2...

Take a look in the Daphne logfile /home/pi/.daphne/daphne_log.txt maybe it has a clue. It's about the only thing left logging on the system so hopefully it's useful, I would have turned it off if I'd realised it was there earlier.

Re: Daphne : No sound in Dragon's Lair (only "action beep")
This is an issue with LEFT/RIGHT channels... Dragon's Lair outputs most sounds from one channel and then just the announcer and daphne and a couple other sounds from the other channel. For some reason I am getting just one channel output... I should be getting mono output (JAMMA is mono, right?)...

Re: Daphne : No sound in Dragon's Lair (only "action beep")
Jamma is mono but the stereo signal is combined into mono prior to amplification on the RaspberryJAMMA so you're good to send it either mono or stereo source.
Re: Daphne : No sound in Dragon's Lair (only "action beep")
I found another defective 3.5mm cable today with only the one channel through testing with Dragons Lair. I hope I haven't sent out a bunch of dodgy cables that drop a channel in stereo games.

Interesting... How can we test this?

Install/play Dragon's Lair via Daphne. If you get just the announcer VOCAL TRACK or if you don't get the announcer VOCAL TRACK you know you have an issue.
There are other games that use two discreet channels ... I'm just struggling to remember which.
