no more controls available when switching from mame172 to advmame

I have a strange issue when i switch from a game in mame172 to a game in advmame
When i do that, the controls do not respond anymore in the game i launch in advmame, even the TAB key does not work nor the exit key ( start1 & 2)

The strange this is that when i switch from mame172 to FBA it does not happen
When i start fresh and start advmame game , no problem

I tested with going back and forth between the other emulators i have roms in like 078 and 139 and then the issue does not present itself
So it seems to be only happening when i switchfrom mame 172 to a advmame game.

Any idea when could be causing this , is there someting specifics to the controls on mame172 or..?

Forgot to mention that i use a J-pac , so not the GPIO pins to stear my button bashing madness!

marking this as solved by myself for now, i modified the mame172 mame.ini file and set keyboardprovider raw instead of auto
I guess since advmame uses sdl for the keyboard input and mame172 auto-defaults to the same that the issue was due to that, not sure but seems fixed now.

(Please note I am using a J-pac not the GPIO pinout)
