Now just to work out how to change settings in each game like freeplay and demo sound off etc.
Did you figure out how to get to the service menu? Volume for me is insanely high (for example). Also, I'd like to change Samurai Spirits to North America which changes the name to Samurai Showdown VI...

it's still the same hypseus as before but you can play Ninja Hayete, TimeGal and Time Traveler. The ALG games work too but arn't much fun without a lightgun.
Cool... will have to check those games out to determine if they're worth the trouble. ;)

EDIT: OK... gunna stop now. Just checked out TimeGal and any game that has Godzilla chasing your ass (even using the Godzilla roar) is a game that I simply must have. Now to source these three games... and I guess I get to read how adding them works... damn... more learning.

;)

I think you can change the bios region in the RetroArch menus, but I may be mistaken.

For some of the Atomiswave and Naomi games you can get the service menu to open by pressing start when the atomiswave or naomi splash screen is up. Doesn't work for all games though.

Ninja Hayete and TimeGal look pretty good if you like the Dragons Lair style. They're animated by Toei so it's reasonable quality anime style. Quality seems comparable to Dragons Lair to me.

I think Time Traveler was one of SEGA attempts at a hologram style game, I think it would have had a mirror with a hidden screen or something originally. The Singe remake is doing what it can...

As Dee2er mentioned, by pushing the start button on load you can get into the naomi/atomiswave service menu but cannot navigate to anything, so changing language, attract sound etc is impossible.

Yes in the RetroArch options there is "core options" and you can change the region to default USA etc. Unforunately most atomiswave games still need to get into service menu to change from japanese to english language.

If Dee2er can work out how to navigate the service menus it would be perfect. Normally it would be the service/test buttons but they dont work.

There appears to be a setting in retroarch to enable an "arcade settings" button... I just can't figure out what button that is assigned to... or how to assign a button to settings. I also, thus far, have failed to find where a bios region setting is located (edit: nevermind, see instructions above on this one).

OK... even though, for example, Samurai Spirits is set for USA region in retroarch... it's not really set for USA region. Doing so changes the title screen to Samurai Showdown IV...

I found a video about flycast and it can be done... but it uses a User Interface we don't use so I am not sure how it translates to the arcade cab version...

Still looking...

I see that by default the system menu is R3 ... but that's for a controller. My source says it's NOT configured for keyboard. The question is... how do configure for keyboard? :D

...and I figured it out!

OK... go in to retropie... then go to INPUTS.

You need to configure L3 (Thumb) and R3 (Thumb) as a key on your keyboard. I used M and N. You now have a Service and Test button configured for Flycast.

Woohoo!

I tested and Samurai Spirits now is Samurai Showdown 6... you can configure voice language separately if you wish too... and it all saves for the next time you play. Nice.

Brilliant! Well done FrizzleFried! Can’t wait to get to work and try this. Yesterday I created a new Naomi/Atomiswave display with all wheel and snaps etc so being able to set all to English etc now is great! Oh and atttact sound off! Too good.
