Four player JAMMA, credit issue and menu

Re: Four player JAMMA, credit issue and menu
The emulator will save automatically when you exit the game but it is possible the SD card hadn't finalised writing the changes when you powered the cab off. To make sure the changes are properly written to the SD card I recommend rebooting from the service menu (either cab 'service' button or keyboard 'f4' from the game select menu) after making setup changes.
Re: Four player JAMMA, credit issue and menu
Is the cabinet service button part of the MAME menu
Re: Four player JAMMA, credit issue and menu
The cabs service button is part of the cab. Not all cabs have them. Sometimes they're labeled as 'credit' or 'service credit' or 'test credit'. It may even be an unlabeled button near the cabs test switch (if it has one). A four player game may have 4 different service credit buttons, one for each player (in the case of a cab with 4 I'm not sure if it will work to exit the menu).
If you don't have a service button the easiest way to get to the service menu is to plug in a keyboard prior to powering up and press 'f4' once the system has loaded up.
EDIT: the 4 player adaptor also has on board 'service' and 'test' buttons for cabs without them.

Re: Four player JAMMA, credit issue and menu
Thank you again. I will look for the service button on the board. There is a test button on the original cabinet but it is no longer active. My plan is to make a few setting changes, hit the service button and reboot from there. Fingers crossed that the changes save.
I am hoping I only need to modify the general mame settings and not the settings for each individual game.

Re: Four player JAMMA, credit issue and menu
It should work to do just the general settings (except in AdvMAME there's a bug where the current running game will also need to be done individually for some reason).
You may have to adjust a couple of different MAME versions, depending on what you have running in what. As the different versions all have their own configs.

Re: Four player JAMMA, credit issue and menu
I was able to get the Settings to say but I am still having issues. It looks like I will have to adjust the settings for each of the 80 games. This is not my main concern. The major problem I’m having is when I insert a credit into a coin slot it is giving multiple players a credit. I don’t see a workaround without having for coin Slots. Any ideas on a workaround besides this option. This game is going into a location where people will be paying to play
Re: Four player JAMMA, credit issue and menu
Does the multiplayer board even have the capability to support 4 coin mechanisms. There has to be some work around for this problem. Maybe a software setting
Re: Four player JAMMA, credit issue and menu
The board supports four coin slots, I thought the problem was your cab only had two.
I've been trying for a day or so to think of a way to operate a four player cab with multiple games and 2 coin mechs. It may be some games are not able to be easily operated in this style due to the original boards not supporting only 2 mechs for four players.
It may be the best bet is to either remove the games that cannot be made to work right with shared coin mechs. OR add a couple more coin mechs to the cab. OR add a credit distribution board between a coin mech and the cab (in Australia our four player cabs often have one coin mech shared between four with each player having a button to assign the purchased credit to them - I guess the distribution boards cost less than extra coin mechs... see here: http://www.sunrisemicro.com.au/credit_boards.html ).
My earlier suggestion to set it so one coin would give every player a credit obviously won't work being operated but when I made it I didn't know you were planning to operate the game.

Re: Four player JAMMA, credit issue and menu
Sorry for the confusion. I’m a total rookie, on top of that I should have mentioned it will be operated. I will take a look at the link and let you know. My first though was to just add 2 more coin mechanisms but I’m not sure where to wire them. I couldn’t find that information on line.
Re: Four player JAMMA, credit issue and menu
Is the distribution board a plug and play item? Or do I have to rework this to get it to operate with the 2 existing coin mechanisms? I really don’t understand what the board does
